Cole told me that the 24th of July was his favorite holiday. I asked him why he liked it so much. He told me it was because everyone dresses like cowboys. It was when we were lining up for the parade. Everyone in our ward was asked to dress like pioneers. This was our wards float in the parade that lasted 15 min. The Achievement girls did it and it was wonderful!

I have always wanted pioneer clothes for my kids to dress up in. This year I busted out the sewing machine and went to work. They aren't the best, but I think they look like pioneers.
After the parade we headed over to the City park. They had tons of games set up there. My favorite was the stick pulling. This is Cole and his friend Gage. Cole thought he was so tough!
After letting the kids go we adults needed a turn. I think Colony and I were one of the first to go. The last thing her husband said to her was don't disgrace the Perry Family name. LOL So after I won one to show her I was strong I let her win the rest. ha ha ha Some of her other matches were Sabrina Leavenworth. Yeah she won.

Then Daniela Stackhouse...she won again.
We pulled Becky Seymour from the crowd to show her she really isn't that tough. ha ha ha
Then Kendra (my really good friend) and I had to give it a shot. Yes, I am really that strong that I made her fly in the air. ha ha ha
Even some of the men got talked into doing it. Shane makes winning the Bishop look easy! It was a good match, but of course my man won 2 to 1.
Even the really little ones loved it. Brynlee and Lacie both kept going up for turns. It was priceless.

These men I think their official job was to keep the kids happy! They had a giant sling shot there that they would shoot water balloons and candy out of to a group of kids on the other side of the field. All the kids loved it.
They had all kinds of races. I know I don't have pictures. After the races they had tug of war. It was great. First they did families. Then they moved on to kids. Here is Gage and Cole pulling hard.
Another booth they had was a pool full of ice water. It had ice and blocks of ice so you could put your feet in it to see how cold it was for the pioneers to cross in the middle of winter. It was really cold! The older boys wanted to see who could stay in the longest. Trey won!
They had a dunking booth. It is their every year and my kids love this tradition. There are 2 lines one for the ones who want to get dunked, and one for the ones that want to throw the soft ball and dunk them. Sometimes you would see the kids matching up so they can dunk their own brother or best friend.
Cole was in line to throw the balls. A few kids had gone before not able to hit the target. One of which was his brother Trey. He walked up hit the target with the first shot. Everyone started clapping and saying what a good job he did. He walked to the back of the line as if it was no big deal. Then when he got there his cousin Kaleb was there. He flexed his muscles and said "YES!"
He dunked Trey too.
This is my friend Kendra. Another fun reason to go celebrate is to hang out with your friends.
This is Nathan and Summer Johnson. At noon there was a free lunch (hot dog, chips, and capri sun). This is their family enjoying the food.
They had live entertainment most of the day. This is Ashley Stackhouse and Lexi her sister. They were probably my favorite entertainment.
When all was said and done the clean up began. The guy running the dunk tank let as many little bodies in the tank as could possibly fit to swim around while it drained.
When the ice was dumped out the kids thought that was the best!
To paraphrase Michelle. "I live in a small hick town and I love it!"

While we were watching the guys play horse shoes the little boys all brought their mom flowers. The difference of having boys vs girls. The boys pick flowers for their moms and the girls pick flowers and keep them. When they realized that no one brought any to Aunt Lisa they all went and brought her a bunch. Crowning her MISS MOUNTAIN.
This is my Father-in-law Dean. He won the Horse shoe tournament. He was dancing around and then Audrey informed him that it would be going on my blog so he stopped mid danced and tried to go straight faced. I caught him in the middle. LOL

This is Kendra Johnson. We all tried pulling our legs up when we went, but she was the only one with success.
This is me. We have gone a lot, but this is the first time I went off the swing. Colony told me to do it graceful. the only thing I did graceful was point my toes. LOL
After seeing the moms go the little girls wanted to try it. They started out jumping off the rock to Kendra.
Gage got brave and swung out after going on his moms back. 
Brynlee would hold the rope, and climb down into the water. 
Kailin did it! I was most proud of her. She doesn't like water very well, but she wanted a snow cone which I promised her if she tried it.
This is Olyvia. She tried swinging out. She did not want to let go of the rope. I think she ended up with a little rope burn on her hands from it.
Lacie the little dare devil! She loved it, and didn't care if you were ready for her or not. I guess that says she has a lot of trust in her mom to save her. Which she has done in the past for my kids.

Cole never could get talked into going off the rope swing, but he sure had fun swimming around in the water.

This is Trey the only picture I got of the older kids. Trey also went off the rope swing, and after he went out to drop off he hit a rock. OUCH! The older kids took off up river where it was a little deeper for swimming.

This is where we spent most of the time. It was such a good afternoon. Thanks guys for going with me. I wish I could have put more pictures, but the battery in my camera died. :( Oh well, I guess I will just keep them for another time.
After the hike out we were ready for snow cones. The Big Chill is my favorite in the summertime. We all went and got snow cones there. More summer left. I wonder what else we can do to keep cool and have a good time!
